Monday works: Grade 1 winner Leave No Trace drills bullet
Grade 1 winner Leave No Trace worked a bullet Monday morning at Belmont Park, covering four furlongs on the dirt training track in 47.80. It was the fastest move of 22 at the distance.
Leave No Trace had a sharp juvenile season last year, winning the Grade 1 Spinaway and finishing second behind Wonder Wheel in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. However, she has struggled as a sophomore. After being eased in the Davona Dale (G2), she was off for almost six months. She had a poor start in her return race, a dirt mile allowance Aug. 30 at Saratoga, then flattened to eighth after setting the pace over yielding turf in the Sands Point (G2) on Oct. 14. The Sands Point was her first try on grass.
In addition to Leave No Trace, three other graded-stakes winners also worked bullets on Monday. Forbidden Kingdom worked the three-furlong bullet at Santa Anita, Maryquitecontrary had the fastest four-furlong drill on the Gulfstream dirt and Master Piece went the fastest five furlongs at Belmont.
