Monday works: Brightwork leads 14 graded winners on tab
Grade 1 winner Brightwork, unraced since finishing third in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America last fall at Keeneland, worked Monday morning at Keeneland. In her fourth drill since her seasonal return to the tab, she went five furlongs in 1:02.2. The John Ortiz trainee earned her Grade 1 in the Spinaway at Saratoga in 2023. She also won the Grade 3 Prioress over the same course during her sophomore season.
Tennessee Lamb returned to the work tab Monday for the first time since winning the Ben Ali (G3) in his graded-stakes debut April 19 at Keeneland. The 4-year-old Tonalist colt worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Churchill Downs. Trained by Rusty Arnold for owner-breeder Calumet Farm, Tennessee Lamb stepped up from an allowance win in March at Gulfstream to beat San Siro and Uno Mas Bourbon in gritty fashion to win the Ben Ali.
