Monday works: Nysos leads Baffert stars at Santa Anita
Three stars from the Bob Baffert barn worked Monday morning at Santa Anita.
Nysos, unraced since winning the San Diego Handicap (G2), worked five furlongs Monday morning at Santa Anita. He missed the Pacific Classic (G1) because of a foot bruise and was considered for the Goodwood (G1) after that scratch but not entered. Monday marked his second week in a row on the work tab after being off it for a month.
Two Grade 1 winners also worked for Baffert on Monday. Champion Citizen Bull, who got back on the winning path Aug. 31 in the Shared Belief, worked for the second time since that victory. He worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds on the Santa Anita dirt, 38th fastest of 61 over the course and distance. Bottle of Rouge, a juvenile filly who won the Del Mar Debutante (G1) on Sept. 6, worked Monday for the second time since that win. She went four furlongs in 47.8 seconds, eighth fastest of 61 over the Santa Anita dirt.
