Monday works: 14 graded-stakes winners include 4 D'Amato stars

Two-time Grade 2 winner Hang the Moon earned a bullet Monday morning at Santa Anita. Her four-furlong time of 48.4 seconds over the all-weather training track was the fastest of 18 at the distance.

Trained by Phil D'Amato, she won both the John C. Mabee (G2) and the Rodeo Drive (G2) last year, and is working toward her first start since finishing sixth in the Robert J. Frankel (G3) on Dec. 27 at Santa Anita.

Hang the Moon was one of four graded-stakes winners on the Santa Anita work tab Monday morning for D'Amato. Grade 1 winner Gold Phoenix worked four furlongs on the all-weather training track, his fourth drill since a fourth-place finish in the Turf Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby day. Stronghold, winner of the 2024 Santa Anita Derby (G1), worked five furlongs as he prepares for his first start since the Pegasus World Cup in January. Grade 3 winner Public Assembly also worked three furlongs, her first drill since she ran fifth in the Gamely (G1) on May 26.
