Monday works: 13 graded-stakes winners are on the tab

Gold Phoenix worked Monday morning for the first time since winning the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap on Aug. 30.

The 7-year-old gelding by Belardo went four furlongs in 49.2 seconds on the synthetic track at Santa Anita, 16th fastest of 28 at the distance.

Trained by Philip D'Amato, Gold Phoenix also won the Del Mar Handicap in 2022, 2023 and 2024, but he is 0-for-5 between last year's race and this year's.

Gold Phoenix earned a berth in the Breeders' Cup Turf with the win. He was fourth in that race last year and in 2023 and 10th in 2022.

Gold Phoenix was one of 13 graded-stakes winners with published works Monday.

Excellent Truth (Cotai Glory), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Diana), worked five furlongs in 1:01.1 on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of five works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she won the Diana (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Saratoga on July 12 for trainer Chad Brown.

Gold Phoenix (Belardo), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Frank E. Kilroe Mile), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 16th fastest of 28 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Del Mar Handicap (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Aug. 30 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Hope Road (Quality Road), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Ballerina), worked four furlongs in 48.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 90 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Ballerina (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 23 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Speed Boat Beach (Bayern), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Malibu), worked five furlongs in 58.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 39 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed fifth in the Pat O'Brien (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Aug. 23 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Straight No Chaser (Speightster), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Breeders' Cup Sprint), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 39 works at the distance. His previous work was 16 days ago going four furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed eighth in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G2) going about six furlongs on the dirt at Meydan on April 5 for trainer Dan Blacker.

Tamara (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Del Mar Debutante), worked six furlongs in 1:12.2 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the only work at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Del Mar. In her last start she placed second in an allowance race going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 15 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Motorious (Muhaarar), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Joe Hernandez), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 16th fastest of 28 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Green Flash Handicap (G3) going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Aug. 30 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Ozara (Lope de Vega), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Ballston Spa), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 30 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she won the Ballston Spa (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 8 for trainer Miguel Clement.

Dashman (Oscar Performance), a Grade 3 winner (2025 William L. McKnight), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Ellis Park on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 18 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed seventh in the Kentucky Downs Preview Turf Cup going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Ellis Park on Aug. 3 for trainer Brian Lynch.

Happy American (Runhappy), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Louisiana), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Churchill Training on Monday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 11 works at the distance. His previous work was four days ago going three furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed ninth in the St. Matthews Overnight going six furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 1 for trainer David Jacobson.

Parchment Party (Constitution), a Grade 3 winner (2025 Belmont Gold Cup), worked six furlongs in 1:13.7 on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the only work at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he won the Birdstone going 1 3/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 6 for trainer Bill Mott.

Senbei (Candy Ride), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Belmont Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 26 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed fifth in the Troy (G2) going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 3 for trainer Miguel Clement.
