Monday tab: Kopion leads 9 graded-stakes winners

Kopion, runner up in her last two starts after three straight graded-stakes wins, worked Monday at Del Mar for trainer Richard Mandella.

The 4-year-old Omaha Beach filly went three furlongs in 36.4 seconds, eighth fastest of 29 at the distance.

Kopion won the Grade 1 La Brea to close out 2024 then started 2025 with wins in the Santa Monica (G2) and Derby City Distaff (G1) before runner-up efforts in the Great Lady M (G2) and Clement L. Hirsch.

Kopion was one of nine graded-stakes winners with published works Monday.

World Beater (Oscar Performance), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Saratoga Derby Invitational), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Keeneland on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Keeneland. In his last start he won the Saratoga Derby Invitational (G1) going 1 3/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 2 for trainer Riley Mott.

Master Piece (Mastercraftsman), a three-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Fort Marcy, 2023 Red Smith, 2022 Eddie Read), worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 21 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park.
