Mizdirection Ready to Roll in Clocker's Corner

Mizdirection, impressive 1 ¾-length winner of the Grade III Monrovia Stakes on Jan. 2, returns in Saturday’s supporting feature, the $70,000 Clockers’ Corner Handicap for older fillies and mares at 6 ½ furlongs over Santa Anita’s hillside turf course. She looms a solid choice as the 122-pound high weight in the field of five for trainer Mike Puype.

A 4-year-old gray daughter of Mizzen Mast owned by sports talk guru Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing and partners, Mizdirection has posted a 4-3-1 record in eight career starts for earnings of $255,711. Smith takes over in the saddle for ailing Garrett Gomez. Mizdirection has won 4 of 6 on turf along with a pair of seconds.

The complete field for the Clockers’ Corner Handicap, with jockeys and weights in post position order: Remit, Bejarano, 118; Givine, Talamo, 117; Secret Cove, Rosario, 114, Mizdirection, Smith, 122, and Fifth Commandment, Espinoza, 115.
