Miss Tallahassee Finishes Strong at MTH

Don Bielak and Kevin Callinan’s Miss Tallahassee produced a powerful stretch drive to win the $45,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday under apprentice rider Eddie Jurado.

Trained by Don Bielak, Miss Tallahassee stepped the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track in 1:45 1/5 and returned $15.40, $5.60 and $2.80.  Ms Glory Be, who was nearly two lengths behind the winner, completed the $34.80 exacta and paid $3.40 and $2.40.  It was another seven lengths back to pacesetter Witch’s Orchard, who paid $2.20 to show.  Sunday’s feature was originally scheduled for the turf, but scratched down to five runners after rains forced the race onto the main track.

A 5-year-old mare by Silver Deputy from the Torrential mare Torropy, Miss Tallahassee earned her second win this season and her fifth lifetime.
