MIDDAY is looking better than ever according to trainer Henry Cecil as his ultra-consistent mare prepares to take on the boys for the first time since her three-year-old season.

The five-time Group 1 winner goes up against a select field of four in Friday's Investec Coronation cup at Epsom, where mercurial star St Nicholas Abbey is 10-11 to capture his firsttop-level race since 2009.

St Nicholas Abbey won a 1m5½f Group 3 at Chester last month in style befitting one who was sent off evens favourite for the Guineas and Midday also enjoyed a fine start to her season, racing to a two length win in a Group 2 at York in May.

“Midday seems in very good order and has come on for her first run of the season at York," said Cecil.
