Midday Faces Males in Breeders' Cup Turf

Midday won the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf in '09 and was runner-up in that event last year, but her connections switch gears and shoot for more money in the $3,000,000 BC Turf this time around.

The 5-year-old mare has captured seven group/graded events in her illustrious career and has banked more than this race is worth. She has fired exacta shots in five of six starts this year and has been competitive against males twice recently.

Sarafina is the 5-2 morning line favorite and the fabulous filly finished a decent 7th of 16 in the G1 Arc at Longchamp in October. She won three straight prior to that including a pair of group tallies against the boys.

Sea Moon is a lighty raced, talented 3-year-old colt for Sir Michael Stoute. The fresh Juddmonte Farms runner romped in lone group one start at this distance and seems to handle any type of turf footing.

Await The Dawn was a candidate for the Classic earlier this year but he ends up here instead. He won the G2 Hardwicke at this trip in June and had his 4-race win streak snapped when finishing five lengths behind runner-up Midday in the G1 Juddmonte International at York in August.

Yet another overseas invader is 5th place Arc finisher St Nicholas Abbey. He finished a couple of lengths behind Sarafina in September and beat Midday at this distance in June.

The remaining overmatched US entrants are Dean's Kitten, Stately Victor, Teaks North, and Brilliant Speed.
