Midday After Third Nassau Stakes

Midday takes on six rivals Saturday as she bids to become the first mare to win three renewals of the Group 1 Nassau Stakes, highlight of the final day of Glorious Goodwood.

Post time for the Nassau, the third race at Goodwood, which will be simulcast live at Saratoga, is 10:10 a.m.

Juddmonte Farms' 5-year-old homebred has posted a pair of comfortable victories in the past two renewals of the Nassau and trainer Henry Cecil and jockey Tom Queally head into Saturday's race in top form following the success of her stablemate, Frankel, in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday.

A top-class, seven-strong field is set to contest the 1 ¼-mile Nassau, including last season's star filly Snow Fairy, and the likely favorite from Ireland, Misty For Me.

Midday kicked off her 2011 campaign with a one-length loss to St Nicholas Abbey in the Group 1 Coronation Cup at Epsom on June 3, but failed to build on that promising effort when finding Misty For Me six lengths too strong in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on June 25.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Misty For Me, ridden by Seamie Heffernan, has proven to be one the leading 3-year-old fillies this season with her dominating victory in the Pretty Polly.

In a true clash of the ages, 4-year-old Snow Fairy, ridden by Frankie Dettori, will be representing the very best of last year's Classic form, having triumphed in both the English and Irish Oaks.

Goodwood also hosts one of the most competitive sprint handicaps of the year, the $160,000 Stewards' Cup (Race 4; 10:45 a.m.) headed by Hoof It from Mick Easterby's Yorkshire Stables and the James Fanshawe-trained Mac's Power.
