Mending jockey Beschizza to start working horses at Fair Grounds

Jockey Adam Beschizza will likely return to the saddle next weekend to begin working horses at Fair Grounds following four weeks on the sideline after suffering a broken collar bone at Keeneland, said his agent, Liz Morris.

Beschizza, a native of England who began riding full-time in the U.S. in 2017, will attempt to defend his 2018 Fair Grounds riding title but could ride at Churchill Downs at the end of the Fall Meet.

“He’s getting a lot better and ready to get back to action,” Morris said. “He’ll head to Fair Grounds next week and will get back working horses.”

Prior to his injury in October, Beschizza was on target to surpass his 2018 win total of 125. Beschizza tallied 95 victories through Oct. 9 with his mounts accruing more than $4.5 million in purses.
