Robert Lipp of Lancaster, Calif., is the latest $25,000 Game winner on DerbyWars!
Lipp, known as "drlipp" in on the leaderboard, took home the $10,000 first prize after outplaying 56 others Saturday, Feb. 22 with a high score of $120.80.
Lipp was excited talking about his win.
"It is great to play against great handicappers out there," said Lipp. "I found DerbyWars about 2 years ago through the Horse Racing Nation site. The low-cost buy ins and multiple challenges are what keep me coming back for more."
The keys to his game were finding the live runners overlooked in the huge fields at Gulfstream and Fair Grounds that day.
"I have a particular handicapping style, but I also keep an open mind to all processes out there," said Lipp.
He hit the board with Smooth Daddy for $46.20 at Gulfstream, then came back a few races later with Potomac River, the upsetter in the Fair Grounds Handicap at $45.80. In the final race, he zeroed-in on Bradester and Rosie Napravnik for a $22 score.
Coming in second with $111.80 was Harry Fry (radar) of Lexington, KY, who takes home the $5,000 runner-up prize. In third place was NHC 2014 Top 10 Finisher Paul Shurman (pshurman) with $103.00, who wins $2,000.
The Top 3 finishers all qualify for the $50K game on March 8 in addition to the cash prizes!
