McGee Likes His Chances in Clark

Here's one guy happy to see Breeders' Cup Classic winner Blame retire: trainer Paul McGee, who will saddle Demarcation and Dubious Miss in Friday's $500,000, Grade I Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs.

Both horses ran against Blame in last year's 11/8-mile Clark. Dubious Miss, breaking bad from post 13, rallied from last to finish sixth, losing by just more than four lengths. Demarcation finished eighth. Demarcation also ran in the 2010 Stephen Foster won by Blame, coming in fifth in the field of 11.

Entries will be taken today for the 136th running of the Clark, now a Grade I stakes. But this year's version does not appear as deep as a year ago, when the top three finishers were Blame, future Santa Anita Handicap winner Misremembered and 2008 Clark winner Einstein, a $2.9-million earner.
