Trainer Shug McGaughey certainly has been pleased with the East Coast arrival of longtime California mainstay rider Alex Solis. The team has clicked for 11 wins from 42 starters since last year for a snappy 26 percent win rate with a $3.29 return on investment for $2.
“Mike Kelly, his agent, is a longtime friend of mine,” McGaughey said. “I’ve always respected Alex as a rider. I put him on a couple horses in Florida and it evolved from there.”
At the Saratoga meet, McGaughey and Solis are 2-for-5.
