Jockey Francisco Maysonett was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J. after being unseated during the running of the fifth race at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
“It’s a probable mild concussion,” said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, medical director for the racetrack. “He had a transitory loss of consciousness and a few chipped teeth. I sent him over for further evaluation, but I anticipate a quick recovery.”
Maysonett, aboard Our Corn, was between horses nearing the far turn when his mount clipped heels, unseating the jockey. Going into Saturday’s card, Maysonett had ridden 7 winners from 126 starts at the meet.
