Pennsylvania Derby winner Math Wizard jogged once around the Santa Anita Park track under assistant trainer Sabine Langvad on Wednesday the morning after arriving from South Florida to prepare for Saturday's $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic.

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said the 3-year-old colt arrived at around 10 p.m.

"His flight was delayed because of weather,” Joseph Jr. said. “He ate well. He traveled well. He likes to travel. Whenever he travels, he wakes up when he gets there.”

Math Wizard, who upset at 31-1 last out in Parx's Sept. 21 Pennsylvania Derby (G1), did so from the rail post position. He has the same assignment this weekend in his biggest career race.

“I like the one. We actually wanted the one," Joseph Jr. said. "A lot of people don’t like the one, but in Pennsylvania he was one and in Ohio he was one, and those were his two best races."

Math Wizard ran second to another eventual Classic contender, Owendale, in the Ohio Derby (G3) in June at Thistledown.

"He’s not a front-runner, but he can sit off them and save some ground," Joseph Jr. said.

Math Wizard is owned by John Fanelli, Khalid Mischref, Cash Is King LLC, LC Racing LLC, Collarmele Vitelli Racing Stables LLC, Ioannis Zoumas and Bassett Stables.
