Masochsitic will be disqualified from his second-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Santa Anita Park after failing a post-race drug test. The Ron Ellis-trained six-year-old gelding will officially be placed last.

The California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) recommended his disqualification to the stewards of Santa Anita after a positive test for the anabolic steroid Stanozolol was discovered for the Jay Em Ess Stable and Los Pollos Hermanos Racing owned multiple graded stakes winning sprinter.

The disqualification will result in the forfeiture of Masochistic's $255,000 purse from the November 5 race.

The CHRB investigation into the positive is ongoing, and no sanctions for trainer Ron Ellis have been yet announced. More news from this story will be posted as it becomes available.
