Maryland Trainer James W. Murphy Dies

Trainer James W. “Jimmy” Murphy, a stalwart on the Maryland racing circuit, died June 13 at age 82.

Murphy, who began his career in 1965, saddled nearly 1,400 winners and stable earnings of more than $24 million, according to Equibase.
