Marquez Injured in Monmouth Spill

Jockey Carlos H. Marquez Jr. was injured when his horse Break the Glass went down during the running of the third race at Monmouth Park on Monday.

“Carlos suffered a broken left clavicle,” said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, Monmouth Park medical director.  “He’s under the care of trauma specialist Dr. Nina Hanna at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.”

Channing Hill, who was unseated from Liston during the third race incident, was cleared to continue to ride.

A 43-year-old native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Marquez was fourth in the Monmouth Park jockey standings heading into Monday’s card.

Marquez’s mount Break the Glass was euthanized on the track.
