Santa Anita based jockey Mario Gutierrez, 30, celebrated his 1,000th career winner on Thursday with Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who gave him a leg up for a neck victory aboard Hot Paris Night, in the eighth and final race.

"The 1,000th wins mean a lot to me," Gutierrez said. "It’s been a helluva run. Two Kentucky Derby wins, two Breeders’ Cups, the Preakness… It’s been amazing. I never thought I’d be at this level, so I’m very happy."
