Bolton, Lipman & Notrona Racing’s Majestic River sat just off the leader and cruised to the front around the far turn en route to a two-length win in Saturday’s $75,000 Lighthouse Stakes.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Majestic River sat second behind fractions of :23 3/5 and :47 set by longshot Brenda’s Way before overtaking that rival on the far turn and pulling clear beneath a confident Eddie Castro.  The 2-1 second choice in the field of seven fillies and mares, Majestic River returned $6.60, $4 and $3.20 in taking her first career stakes.  It was two lengths back to South Andros ($3.80, $3) who rallied to complete a $22.40 exacta.  Made Up finished another 2 ½ lengths back in third and returned $4.20.  The final time for the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track was 1:45 3/5.

“I figured we’d be able to sit just off the pace and that’s what happened,” Castro said.  “She felt strong the whole way so I was very confident.  Around the turn I moved for the lead and she did the rest.”

A 4-year-old filly by A.P. Indy out of the Alphabet Soup mare Tempus Fugit, Majestic River improved her career record to 4-1-0 from seven starts.  Now a perfect two-for-two at Monmouth Park, Majestic River increased her career earnings to $133,138.
