Mahoning Valley cancels Tuesday racing due to wind and cold

Mahoning Valley canceled racing both Monday and Tuesday due to winter weather.

Equibase published Monday that the track had cancelled its Tuesday races. Mahoning Valley is expected to resume racing Wednesday with an eight-race card beginning at 12:15 p.m. EST.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for an area including Youngstown, Ohio, where Mahoning Valley is located. The advisory calls for wind chills between zero and -10 degrees early Tuesday and early Wednesday. Tuesday's forecast calls for a high near 15, wind chills as low as -7, with winds of seven to 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.

In addition to Mahoning Valley, both Parx and Aqueduct canceled racing on Monday due to windy winter weather. Parx expects to resume live racing on Tuesday with a card beginning at 12:05 p.m. EST, while Aqueduct's next scheduled race card begins Friday at 1:10 p.m. EST.
