Mahbooba Faces Six in UAE Oaks

Mahbooba will try to add another stakes victory to her already glittering resume when she faces six other fillies in the $250,000 UAE Oaks Sponsored by Al Tayer Motors (UAE-III) at Meydan Racecourse Feb. 24. The 9 1/2 furlong contest is one of two stakes races that highlight the Thursday evening program at Meydan.

The 4-year-old daughter of Galileo enters the Oaks off of a scintillating victory over Reem in the listed UAE 1000 Guineas Sponsored by Etisalat Feb. 3. Her stablemate Reem most recently finished a strong second to River Jetez in last week’s Balanchine Stakes Sponsored by Emirates NBD (UAE-IIT).

Mahbooba races as a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed and is trained by Mike de Kock. She has won four of her six lifetime starts, and has never finished out of the money. As a juvenile racing in South Africa, Mahbooba captured the Golden Slipper (SAf-I) and was third in the Allan Robertson Championship (SAf-I).
