Love Conquers Wins at Colonial Downs

With the steady closing effort of a veteran, heavy favorite Love Conquers took the featured Forever Young race for eight year olds and up on Monday at Colonial Downs.

After racing unhurried through early fractions of 48.23 and 1.12:73, the eight year old Not For Love gelding swung four wide into the lane and closed under pressure from jockey Horacio Karamanos to win by 1 ½ lengths. Ten year old We Have A Problem ran second after giving way grudgingly, with Legendary Pacer finishing a neck behind in third.

Trained by Michael Pino and owned by David Ross, Love Conquers has earned over $186,000 in 35 lifetime starts. He has yet to finish off the board at Colonial Downs, having won four of his eight tries at the New Kent oval.

A claiming race conditioned for eight year olds and up, the Forever Young was run over 1 1/16 miles on the inner Secretariat turf course in a time of 1:44.18.

Colonial Downs presents a nine-race card on Tuesday, with the first race going to post at 4 PM.
