Two stakes worth $200,000 will be run on consecutive Saturdays during the upcoming September Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos.

The six-day meet is scheduled to begin Sept. 12 and continue through Sunday. Racing will be conducted Friday, Saturday and Sunday both weeks with cards Sept. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. Post time will be 3:30 p.m. EDT each day.

The $75,000 E.B. Johnston, the first stakes race, will be run Sept. 13. A one-mile race, the Johnston is restricted to 3-year-olds and up, bred or sired in California. Man O Rose, a Jeff Mullins-trained Stanford gelding bred and owned by B and B Zietz Stables, won the 2024 running.

The $125,000 Dark Mirage, the second stakes race, will go Sept. 20. The race also is at one mile and is for fillies and mares, 3 and up. Bob Baffert trained Show Card, a Juddmonte homebred Into Mischief filly, to last year’s victory.

Los Alamitos runs its September meet to bridge the gap between the end of the Del Mar summer meet Sept. 7 and the start of the Santa Anita fall meet Sept. 26.
