Lookin At Lucky fires bullet for Classic

Champion Lookin At Lucky fired a bullet on Monday at Hollywood Park as he continues to progress toward a start in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on November 6 at Churchill Downs.

The three-year-old Smart Strike colt has won all three of his starts since he was all but eliminated from contention at the start of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) thanks to a brutal trip in which he was sideswiped and forced into the rail in the early going.

Last year’s champion two-year-old male has pieced together victories in the Preakness Stakes (G1), IZOD Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1), and Indiana Derby (G2) after the first jewel of the Triple Crown and, if Monday’s drill is any indication, he certainly appears to be headed in the right direction for a showdown with unbeaten two-time champion older female and last year’s Classic winner Zenyatta as well as older males Blame, Haynesfield, and Quality Road.
