Long shot Big Dreaming, an allowance winner last out at Ellis Park, will be scratched from Saturday’s running of the Grade 1, $600,000 Mister D. Stakes at Arlington Park, his trainer said Thursday morning.

“We didn’t get a good draw,” Wayne Catalano told Horse Racing Nation. “We’ll try and come back next month at Kentucky Downs.”

A 4-year-old colt owned by Frank Calabrese, Big Dreaming drew the outside in the 10-horse field. Saturday would have been his graded-stakes debut. He was 15-1 on the morning line.

Catalano said he would consider a $1 million race at Kentucky Downs for Big Dreaming. Although he did not say which one, the Mint Million at one mile on Sept. 6 would appear to fit the Declaration of War colt’s profile.

The nine horses left in the Mister D. are led by Domestic Spending, the Chad Brown-trained gelding who has won three consecutive Grade 1 races. He is 6-5 on the morning line.
