Long Range Toddy, involved in Maximum Security’s historic Kentucky Derby disqualification in his last start, worked Sunday at Churchill Downs.

The 3-year-old Steve Asmussen trainee ran five furlongs in 1:01 on the dirt Sunday in Louisville.

Long Range Toddy is targeting the $500,000, Grade 3 Ohio Derby on June 22 at Thistledown, owner Willis Horton said May 26.

Long Range Toddy ran Sunday over the same track where, May 4, he crossed the line 17th in the Kentucky Derby. The son of Take Charge Indy was elevated to 16th – one spot ahead of Maximum Security – after contact near the 5/16ths pole led his jockey, Jon Court, to lodge an objection.

A nine-time starter, Long Range Toddy’s four wins are highlighted by a Rebel Stakes (G2) victory that came March 16 at Oaklawn Park.

Here’s a look at some other notable Sunday morning workers at Churchill Downs:

Two 5-year-old Brad Cox trainees, Arklow and Beau Recall, breezed a 49-second half-mile in company on the turf. Both are headed this week to New York where Arklow will target Friday’s Belmont Gold Cup Invitational (G2) and the Irish-bred mare Beau Recall is probable for Sunday’s Just a Game (G1).

Limari went a half-mile in 49 seconds for Cox. The 4-year-old filly has won each of her last four starts and is expected to run Sunday at Churchill Downs in the Mint Julep (G3).

Cox trainee Mr. Misunderstood ran five furlongs in 1:02.40. The gelding, who won the Nov. 17 River City (G3) at Churchill Downs in his last start, could make his 5-year-old debut June 15 in the track’s Wise Dan (G2).

Bourbon Resolution, another likely Wise Dan entrant, went through five furlongs on the turf in 1:00.20. The 4-year-old colt is trained by Ian Wilkes.

Humana Distaff (G1) champion Mia Mischief worked five furlongs over 1:02.20. The Asmussen-trained 4-year-old filly is set for Friday’s Bed O’ Roses Invitational (G3) at Belmont Park.

Asmussen trainee She’s a Julie, winner of the La Troienne (G1) on Kentucky Derby day, went 1:00.20 over five furlongs. The 4-year-old filly is probable for the Fleur de Lis (G2) on June 15 at Churchill Downs.

Amussen’s 3-year-old filly Lady Apple, third last out in the Kentucky Oaks, went five furlongs in 1:02. Connections haven’t announced her next start.

Pimlico Special (G3) winner Tenfold worked five furlongs in 1:00.20. Another Asmussen trainee, the 4-year-old colt’s next outing could be Churchill Downs’ Stephen Foster (G2) on June 15.
