Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Lonesome Street alternated for the early lead with George Ditola’s Cross Village, drew away from that one a second time after the eighth pole and won Sunday’s $51,000 Fair Grounds optional claiming grass feature by 2 1/4-lengths.

Ridden by Miguel Mena and trained by Mike Maker, Lonesome Street accomplished the about one-mile distance over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated “good” in 1:41.81 and increased his career earnings to $147,336 with his third win in 15 career starts. The winner paid $9.60, $5.80 and $5 after alternating for the early splits of 26.66 and 52.39 with Cross Village, who returned $11.80 and $6.60 as the runner-up.

Hugh Robertson’s Grizzled Robert finished third, three-quarters of a length behind Cross Village, and returned $4 in the show spot.
