Lizard’s Desire fights for his life

Dubai World Cup runner-up Lizard's Desire, who lost the world's richest race in the narrowest of photo-finishes, is suffering from a debilitating and often fatal hoof inflammation.

The five-year-old gelding has laminitis, believed to have been brought on by an earlier bout of enteritis (inflammation of the intestine), and is now undergoing treatment at owner Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum's Dubai farm.
