Watch: Play Saratoga Wednesday with Charting Horse Value

Week 3 of Saratoga begins Wednesday. For those playing the races, Charting Horse Value is a major handicapping time saver and is available for every track, every day. Creator Jeff Bessa joined Horse Racing Nation handicapper Sara Elbadwi Tuesday to recap this past week and discuss the upcoming week of racing.

Most horseplayers are less familiar with handicapping steeplechase races, one of which opens the Wednesday card. Charting Horse Value is available for the hurdles.

At the top of the chart is No. 7 State of Affair (5-1 morning line). This horse gets the "A+" ranking in the ABC column and an 11 in the value column. State of Affair has hit the board in his last four starts, and gets a jockey change back to a rider that has won with him previously. He'll also be forwardly placed, which is beneficial much like in flat racing.

In the stakes race on the card, the Honorable Miss Handicap (G2), No. 2 Bella Sofia (1-2) is the heavy favorite and horse to beat. Charting Horse Value agrees, as she does rank top of the chart. However, the horse that receives the "+" designation is No. 3 Amadevil (12-1 ML).

Amadevil is racing outside of Ohio for the first time, where she's won seven of eight lifetime starts. She may not be good enough, but she has early gate speed enough to potentially be in front in this spot. Even though she's the longest shot on the board in a four-horse field, it may not be as easy as discounting her completely.

In the finale, first time starter No. 3 Liquidity Provider (4-1) sits atop the chart. Contributing factors to this include a highly-rated trainer and jockey, no surprise to those familiar with the combo of Chad Brown and Irad Ortiz Jr.

A horse to consider underneath could be No. 7 Glitter Up (10-1). She gets the an "A+" ranking and has been consistent, finishing second in her last three efforts. She might be overlooked some in the wagering with some enticing debut runners and other more lightly raced foes.
