Little Distorted Stakes Bound

Silverton Hill Farm’s 2-year-old Little Distorted flashed brilliance winning his career debut by 2 ¼ lengths at Belmont Park on Oct. 28 for trainer Michael Mareina and owner Kuehne Racing. The colt was later sold privately to Silverton Hill Farm with Darrin Miller taking over the training.

The new connections actually left the Distorted Humor colt with Mareina for a time after the sale and he brought him to Gulfstream Park last month before moving to Miller’s winter headquarters this season at Payson Park on Dec. 2, where he breezed five furlongs in 1:02 on Saturday morning.

“We plan on running him in either the Gulfstream Park Derby or the Spectacular Bid, but haven’t decided which one just yet,” said Miller Sunday morning of the two stakes to be run on New Year’s Day, Tues., Jan. 1. The $100,000 Gulfstream Park Derby is run at one mile while the $100,000 Spectacular Bid is contested at six furlongs.

“We think this is the logical next move. I haven’t had him that long, but I like what I’ve seen so far.”
