Little Bridge debuted with an off-the-pace victory by a neck in Friday’s second race to give stallion Rattlesnake Bridge his first winner.
Rattlesnake Bridge, who stands at Harley De Renzo Thoroughbreds in Ocala, retired in 2013 with three wins, including a stakes victory in the 2011 Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park, and earnings of $518,800. The Kiaran McLaughlin-trainee’s career highlight came in a second-place finish behind Stay Thirsty in the 2011 Travers (G1) at Saratoga. The son of Tapit also finished second behind champion Uncle Mo in the 2011 Timely Writer at Gulfstream Park.
Little Bridge ($11.40), trained by Carlo Vaccarezza for J and J Stables, Joe Imbesi and Nicholas Vaccarezza, is out of the Successful Appeal mare Successful Verdict. Ridden by Miguel Vasquez, Little Bridge ran five furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:00.28 to prevail over six other 2-year-olds in the $50,000 off-the-turn maiden special weight event.
