Lifetime Ban for Paragallo?

Convicted thoroughbred owner Ernest Paragallo is free on bail, pending an appeal, but still faces the possibility of a lifetime racing ban and civil fines of up to $165,000.

Paragallo, 52, is not currently barred from racetrack grounds, such as Saratoga Race Course, but the state Racing and Wagering Board is seeking such steps.

He had served the first month of a maximum two-year sentence, before being released Thursday on $10,000 bail, after the state Supreme Court Appellate Division received a notice of appeal.
