Marty and Pam Wygod’s Life Is Sweet, winner of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1), is scheduled to return to action in the $250,000 Santa Maria Handicap (G2) at Santa Anita Park on Saturday.
The 1 1/16-mile race on the synthetic Pro-Ride surface drew a field of nine older fillies and mares. Life Is Sweet, a five-year-old Storm Cat mare out of the Kris S. mare Sweet Life, was assigned 123 pounds and will spot the field from five to 12 pounds.
