Life Is Sweet returns in Santa Maria

Marty and Pam Wygod’s Life Is Sweet, winner of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1), is scheduled to return to action in the $250,000 Santa Maria Handicap (G2) at Santa Anita Park on Saturday.

The 1 1/16-mile race on the synthetic Pro-Ride surface drew a field of nine older fillies and mares. Life Is Sweet, a five-year-old Storm Cat mare out of the Kris S. mare Sweet Life, was assigned 123 pounds and will spot the field from five to 12 pounds.
