Trackside Farm and Tenlane Farm’s Life Begins won the first race of her career in her fifth lifetime start Sunday, drawing off for a 2 1/4 length victory in the stretch run of Fair Grounds’ $47,000 feature for maiden fillies and mares after alternating for the early lead with splits of 26.62 and 51.61.

Ridden by Jamie Theriot, the Mike Stidham trainee toured the about 7 1/2-furlong distance over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated “good” in 1:35.56 and increased her career earnings to $39,523 while returning mutuels of $7.80, $4.40 and $3.40.

Liz Squyres’ Snow Kissed, unhurried early, rallied to be clearly second best, finishing 1 1/4-lengths to the good of Joseph Hickman and Dennis Farkas’s Little Egypt while no threat to the winner.

Snow Kissed paid $3.60 and $3, while Little Egypt returned $4.40.
