Aqueduct joins Laurel, Charles Town on list of cold cancellations
Aqueduct joined the list of tracks with winter cancellations when it called of its Saturday card, the New York Racing Association said Friday.
“NYRA has canceled live racing on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack as well as morning training at Belmont Park due to Arctic temperatures forecast to impact the New York metropolitan throughout the day,” a news release said, adding, “Saturday’s feature race, the listed $150,000 Interborough, will be brought back Saturday, Jan. 27 with entries to be taken Wednesday.”
Aqueduct ran all eight of its schedule races through light snow with hastened post times Friday. It is scheduled to come back Sunday with a nine-race card featuring the $100,000 Rego Park.
Earlier, a snowstorm has led to cancellations at Laurel Park and Charles Town. Laurel did not race Friday, and Charles Town canceled for both Friday and Saturday.
Laurel plans to resume racing Saturday. The $100,000 What a Summer and $100,000 Fire Plug lead a 10-race card.
Charles Town expects to resume racing Wednesday night.
These moves follow cancellations previously announced for Turfway Park and Oaklawn. Turfway announced Thursday it would not race Friday or Saturday night. Oaklawn canceled Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
