Late Entry Caixa Electronica Wins CT Classic

Last-minute entry Caixa Eletronica made good on his trip from New York to win the $1 million Charles Town Classic (gr. II) at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races the evening of April 14.

Owned by Mike Repole and trained by Todd Pletcher, Caixa Eletronica is known as a sprinter but had won his only race at 1 1/8 miles, a starter allowance test at Saratoga. He had no problem with the distance and the three turns in the Classic, which he won from off the pace.

“People thought he may not go the mile and an eighth, but he did it so easy,” said jockey Javier Castellano, who made the trip from Keeneland in Lexington earlier in the evening. "I really had a beautiful trip. I talked to Todd this morning, and he told me to put the horse in the game.”
