Lady Pauline keeps Velazquez for upcoming Royal Ascot trial
Lady Pauline, a half-sister to multiple Royal Ascot winner Lady Aurelia, is on schedule to make her second start in a local prep for Royal Ascot's Queen Mary Stakes (G2).
Trainer Wesley Ward has entered her in a 2-year-old trial run May 1 at Ascot, with post time 9:15 a.m. ET.
The daughter of Munnings will look to maintain momentum off a dominating, 9 3/4-length Keeneland victory on April 5.
Ward also trained Lady Aurelia, while both she and Lady Pauline run for Stonestreet Stables.
"Her work has been really nice since the start, and I’m excited about her for sure," Ward told AtTheRaces.com of Lady Pauline, who finished 4 1/2 furlongs in her debut in 51.71 seconds.
The Wesley Ward trainee, who is a half-sister to 2016 Queen Mary winner Lady Aurelia – both run for Stonestreet Stables – blazed the 4 1/2 furlong test at Keeneland with a final time of 51.71.
The five-furlong trial at Ascot drew 22 entries. Declarations to run will be made later.
John Velazquez has the mount, meaning a trans-Atlantic trip on Kentucky Derby race week for the regular pilot of contender Code of Honor.
