One of the fastest juvenile fillies in track history heads the list of 3-year-old fillies nominated to the $50,000 Federal Way Handicap at Emerald Downs on Sunday, May 9.
Knight Raider—winner of four races and three stakes by a combined 34 lengths for trainer Doris Harwood and Fab Five Far m in 2009— is among 10 sophomore fillies nominated to the 6 ½-furlong Federal Way, the first stop en route to the $75,000 Washington Oaks on Aug. 14.
A Washington-bred by Tribunal, Knight Raider set two stakes records and won at distances of 4 ½, 5 ½ and 6 furlongs, and carried her speed one mile while romping by 3-¾ lengths in the Barbara Shinpoch Stakes, the track's signature event for 2-year-old fillies.
