Kip Deville Stakes Set as First Springboard Prep

The $75,000 Kip Deville Stakes is one of six stakes events on the undercard for Oklahoma Derby Day on Sunday, Sept. 27. The race begins the series of 2-year-old stakes at Remington Park that will lead to the Springboard Mile in December, the top race for freshman runners.

He’s Comin In Hot has the morning-line favorite status for the Kip Deville at 2-1 odds. Owned by Douglas Scharbauer of Midland, Texas and trained by Bret Calhoun, He’s Comin In Hot has already been a triumphant player in stakes competition. He won the Grade 3-$100,000 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. on June 27 and recently cruised to victory in the $75,000 Texas Stallion Breeders’ Stakes at Retama Park north of San Antonio on Sept. 12.

In between the two stakes victories, He’s Comin In Hot was fifth in the Grade 3-$150,000 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga in upstate New York on July 25. The Texas-bred gelding has won three of his six career attempts and already boasts earnings of $146,010. Jockey Jamie Theriot will have the mount in the Kip Deville Stakes.

Bring It On Dude is second in the morning-line at 3-1 odds. He impressed on Opening Night of the Remington Park season, breaking his maiden status against Oklahoma-breds in winning a five-furlong event by seven lengths. Owned, trained and bred in state by C.R. TroutJareth Loveberry will have the call on Bring It On Dude.

The undefeated Stormation is at 7-2 odds in the morning line and will try to win his fourth consecutive stakes race. Trained by Robertino Diodoro, Stormation won the Prairie Gold Juvenile at Prairie Meadows in Iowa in July before winning back-to-back stakes races at Canterbury Park in Minnesota in August and mid-September. Jockey Floyd Wethey, Jr. will ride Stormation, who has a perfect record of four wins from four starts.

8.            Sajara: Joyce Salisbury, Alex Birzer, 20-1

9.            Taste’s Secret: Mindy Willis, Scott Stevens, 30-1

10.          Moyahua: Kari Craddock, Cliff Berry, 20-1

The Oklahoma Derby is the main event on a 10-race card that includes seven consecutive stakes events from races three thru nine. The total horsemen’s purses for the program stand at $1,173,255, securing the derby card as the richest for the 2015 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season.

The stakes races on Oklahoma Derby Day at Remington Park will be presented in this order:

Race 3: $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes, fillies/mares, 3 and older, 6 furlongs, 2:28pm

Race 4: $100,000 Remington Green, 3 and older, 1-1/8 miles (turf), 2:57pm

Race 5: $150,000 Remington Park Sprint Cup, 3 and older, 6 furlongs, 3:26pm

Race 6: $75,000 Ricks Memorial, fillies/mares, 3 and older, 1-1/16 miles (turf), 3:55pm

Race 7: $75,000 Kip Deville Stakes, 2-year-olds, 6 furlongs, 4:24pm

Race 8: $200,000 Remington Park Oaks, 3-year-old fillies, 1-1/16 miles, 4:53pm

Race 9: $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3), 3-year-olds, 1-1/8 miles, 5:22pm
