Keys to cashing on Saturday's Delaware Oaks all-stakes Pick 3
Delaware Park will offer an all-stakes Pick 3 Saturday featuring the Grade 3, $300,000 Delaware Oaks, and I'm looking to cash while betting on a budget.
The multi-race wager begins with Race 8 (4:45 p.m. ET), the Grade 3, $200,000 Robert G. Dick Memorial, and also includes the $75,000 Dashing Beauty.
This Pick 3 comes with a minimum bet of 50 cents, and my five suggested tickets below cost a total of $40. Check out my Pick 3 contenders and tickets:
Race 8 (G3 Robert G. Dick Memorial, 11T)
Key - #5 ESQUISSE
Backups - #8 Creative Thinking, #4 Palinodie
Analysis - #5 Esquisse (9-2) chased fast fractions and hung in there until midstretch before retreating to eighth in the G2 New York June 8. The pace should be much more to her liking today, and she has every chance to succeed for the productive Vargas Jr/Motion team. This is a class and distance test for her. #8 Creative Thinking (7-2) exits back-to-back turf marathon scores under today’s rider Beschizza including a five-length upset in $70,000 Keertana at Churchill May 26. She projects a decent stalking trip. #4 Palinodie (5-2) is only 1-for-12 and might get over-bet on the win end for Clement. She flees the rail and hooked quality foes Holy Helena and Santa Monica in her recent graded turf outings. She might be the one to reel in under McCarthy.
Race 9 (Dashing Beauty, 6f)
Key - #4 BONITA BIANCA
Backups - #8 Lake Ponchatrain, #7 Angel At War, #2 Cairenn, #9 Jessica Krupnik
Analysis - #4 Bonita Bianca (9-2) moved to the Servis barn and looked great in an optional claiming tally off a layoff at Monmouth June 3 (runner-up next out winner). She is 2-for-2 at this distance and figures to stalk the pace under Lopez. #8 Lake Ponchatrain (7-2) captured her last three dirt sprints including a local optional claiming score from the outside post at this trip under today’s rider, Rosado, on June 14. #7 Angel At War (5-1) landed the place in her last three, and Lake Ponchatrain got the better of her on April 21 and June 14. She went 6-for-6 as a sophomore last year, and she lost for the first time in five local outings June 14. #2 Cairenn (8-1) almost always fires trifecta shots and might be able to move forward in her second start in the Motion barn. #9 Jessica Krupnik (6-1) won 3 of her last 4 dirt sprints and was second in the $75,000 Regret at Monmouth last time.
Race 10 (G3 Delaware Oaks, 8.5f)
Key - #8 COACH ROCKS
Backups - #9 Red Ruby, #10 Gio Game, #1 Mo Shopping, #5 Blue Strike, #6 Cascanueces
Analysis - #8 Coach Rocks (5-1) turned the corner in a romping, front-running dirt route maiden win at Gulfstream Feb 14. After that, she won the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks, finished seventh of 14 in the Kentucky Oaks, and set the pace to finish clearly second best in the G2 Black-Eyed Susan. Her new pilot, Maragh, should have options with the versatile sort. #9 Red Ruby (3-1) is a two-time stakes winner, but both of those wins were in the slop, including a sharp four-plus length tally in the Black-Eyed Susan. She graduated on fast dirt at Churchill last fall. #10 Gio Game (4-1) earned improved numbers in her last three starts for Casse, and she fired a bullet for this June 22. She must work out a trip from the outside post under her regular rider Leparoux. #1 Mo Shopping (8-1) earned her best number yet in a game half-length victory from the outside post in a local $50,000 stakes score June 6. She projects a ground-saving stalking trip under Pino. #5 Blue Strike (10-1) exits a good 2nd to Mo Shopping, and she easily captured back-to-back flat mile races at Parx before that. She figures to stalk the pace under quality local rider Cintron. #6 Cascanueces (6-1) went 3-for-3 in Peru last year, and Pletcher has her now. She is the mystery horse.
