Kentucky Downs: Untapable Stakes, Juvenile Mile are Sunday

Snow Face Princess, a two-time winner this summer at Saratoga, inherited morning-line favoritism and new connections for Sunday’s $1 million Untapable Stakes, a 6 1/2-furlong turf sprint for 11 2-year-old fillies at Kentucky Downs.

The race at 6:28 p.m. EDT follows the $1 million Juvenile Mile, a 5:54 p.m. turf race for nine 2-year-olds.

Since she won the Bolton Landing Stakes going 5 1/2 furlongs Aug. 17 at Saratoga, Snow Face Princess was acquired privately from Gary Lewin by Winchell Thoroughbreds. The daughter of Midshipman was transferred from trainer Todd Pletcher to Steve Asmussen.

Snow Face Princess made her debut on dirt, finishing fourth in a muddy sprint May 23 at Belmont at the Big A. Then she got blinkers and was switched to turf July 30, when she broke her maiden over the same course and distance as the Bolton Landing.

Irad Ortiz Jr. rides Snow Face Princess on Sunday with saddle cloth no. 4 out of post 3. Original morning-line favorite Lennilu was scratched. She raced Saturday and won the Florida Sire Desert Vixen at Gulfstream Park.

Street Beast is back for Juvenile Mile

Street Beast, who broke his maiden only 10 days ago over the same course, stretches for the first time from a sprint to a route and is the 8-5 program favorite in the Juvenile Mile.

Trained by Ben Colebrook, the Street Sense colt finished first by three-quarters of a length in a 6 1/2-furlong allowance race Aug. 28 worth $250,000. Street Beast began his career Aug. 1 with a second-place finish in a $100,000 maiden sprint going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Ellis Park turf.

An $85,000 April purchase who was bred in Kentucky, Street Beast is owned by Midway Racing. Luan Machado has the call to race from post 7.
