Ky. Derby works: Timberlake is 1 of 14 contenders on tab

Timberlake prepared for his start next weekend in the Grade 1, $1.5 million Arkansas Derby with a five-furlong workout Saturday at Fair Grounds.

A 10-1 third choice in Las Vegas futures for Kentucky Derby 2024, the winner of last month’s Rebel (G2) went five furlongs in 1:00.4 on the fast main track.

Timberlake was one of the 14 Derby contenders who showed up on work tables Saturday.

Timberlake (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Champagne), worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 34 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Rebel (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on Feb. 24 for trainer Brad Cox.

Conquest Warrior (City of Light) worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Payson Park. It was the faster of two works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he won an allowance race going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Gulfstream Park on March 1 for trainer Shug McGaughey.

Mystik Dan (Goldencents), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Southwest), worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Fair Grounds. It was the 20th fastest of 34 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Southwest (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on Feb. 3 for trainer Kenny McPeek.

Knightsbridge (Nyquist) worked three furlongs in 36.6 seconds at Payson Park. It was the faster of two works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he won a maiden race going seven furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4 for trainer Bill Mott.

Molly’s Town (Mo Town) worked four furlongs in 52.2 seconds at Horseshoe Indianapolis. It was the 46th fastest of 48 works at the distance. His previous work was 11 days ago going four furlongs at Horseshoe Indianapolis. In his last start he placed fifth in the Advent going 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Oaklawn on Dec. 8 for trainer Genaro García.

Rocketeer (Curlin) worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Fair Grounds. It was the 14th fastest of 34 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won a maiden race going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 26 for Cox.

Time for Truth (Omaha Beach) worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Oaklawn. It was the 18th fastest of 50 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going six furlongs at Oaklawn. In his last start he won an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on March 2 for trainer Ron Moquett.

The Wine Steward (Vino Rosso) worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Churchill Downs. It was the fourth fastest of seven works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Gulfstream Park.
