Ky. Derby works: Talkin drills at Belmont ahead of Remsen start

Talkin, who won his debut at Saratoga before finishing second in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes, worked Thursday at Belmont Park for trainer Danny Gargan.

The 2-year-old Good Magic colt breezed four furlongs in 47.8 seconds, third fastest of 41 at the distance.

Talkin had odds of 40-1 this week in Las Vegas futures for Kentucky Derby 2026. He earned five qualifying points for the run for the roses in the Champagne, and Gargan told Horse Racing Nation that he is pointed to the Dec. 6 Remsen (G2), which offers 10 points to the winner.

Five horses in Las Vegas futures and other HRN top contenders for Kentucky Derby 2026 had published works Thursday.

Captivator (Charlatan) worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 36th fastest of 72 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won a maiden race going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 8 for trainer John Sadler.

Exosome (Candy Ride) worked five furlongs in 1:02.0 at Turfway Park on Thursday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Turfway Park. In his last start he won a maiden race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 19 for trainer Kelsey Danner.

Ganaas (War Front) worked five furlongs in 59.0 seconds at Keeneland on Thursday morning. It was the fastest of nine works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Keeneland. In his last start he placed fifth in the Street Sense (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Oct. 26 for trainer Andrew McKeever. He was at 90-1 in Las Vegas futures this week.

L Rankin (Maximus Mischief) worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Del Mar on Thursday morning. It was the 13th fastest of 14 works at the distance. His previous work was 15 days ago going five furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he won a maiden race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 10 for trainer Peter Miller.
