Ky. Derby works: Lecomte winner Golden Tempo drills for DeVaux

Golden Tempo, 2-for-2 after winning the Grade 3 Lecomte last out, worked Friday morning for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

The Curlin colt breezed four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Fair Grounds, 33rd fastest of 136 at the distance. It was his second drill since the Kentucky Derby trail victory, which brought his record to 2-for-2. He's expected to make his next start in the Risen Star (G3) on Feb. 14 at Fair Grounds.

Golden Tempo is tired at no. 1 with Nearly in the points standings for Kentucky Derby 2026, and he was listed in at 30-1 in Las Vegas futures for the Derby this week. He was one of 13 horses with Derby odds in Las Vegas and other HRN top contenders who were on the Friday tab.

Arabia Wild (Gun Runner) worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Fair Grounds on Friday morning. It was the 120th fastest of 136 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Jan. 17 for trainer Brad Cox.

Balboa (Not This Time) worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Laurel Park on Friday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 74 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Laurel Park. In his last start he placed second in the Jerome going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Jan. 3 for trainer Brittany Russell.

Cabourg (Munnings) worked four furlongs in 45.2 seconds on turf at Palm Meadows on Friday morning. It was the second fastest of 45 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed seventh in the Mucho Macho Man going one mile on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 3 for trainer Jose D'Angelo.

Commandment (Into Mischief) worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the 17th fastest of 53 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he won the Mucho Macho Man going one mile on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 3 for trainer Brad Cox.

Criteria (Yaupon) worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 53 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed second in a maiden race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 2 for trainer Chad Brown.

Ewing (Knicks Go), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Saratoga Special), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Oaklawn on Friday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 21 works at the distance. His previous work was 19 days ago going five furlongs at Oaklawn. In his last start he won the Saratoga Special (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 2 for trainer Mark Casse.
