Kentucky Derby works: Journalism is 1 of 41 hopefuls on tab

Training up to a possible start March 1 in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes, former Kentucky Derby 2025 futures favorite Journalism returned to the work tab Sunday.

The Michael McCarthy-trained winner of the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) on Dec. 14 turned in a five-furlong drill that was clocked at 59.8 seconds at Santa Anita.

Journalism was one of Sunday’s 11 work-tab entries whose names also appear in the Derby futures market. Forty-one hopefuls for the May 3 classic at Churchill Downs turned in workouts since Tuesday.

Sunday

Journalism (Curlin), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Los Alamitos Futurity), worked five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the eighth fastest of 91 works at the distance.
