Kentucky Derby 2025 workers: Barnes is 1 of 19 on Sunday tab
Kentucky Derby 2025 futures favorite Barnes was back on the track for a workout Sunday morning.
The Into Mischief colt owned by Zedan Racing Stables and trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert went a half-mile in 48.6 seconds working through intermittent drizzle on the fast main track at Santa Anita.

Barnes carries 10-1 fixed odds in the Caesars Sportsbook futures in Nevada. He was the 6-1 individual favorite when pool 3 closed Sunday in the pari-mutuel Kentucky Derby Future Wager conducted nationally by Churchill Downs.
Barnes and his stablemate Getaway Car, a Curlin colt who worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds, were nominated for Saturday’s Grade 2 San Vicente, a 20-10-6-4-2 points prep for the Kentucky Derby. Neither, however, was considered a probable entrant, according to the Santa Anita racing office.
The two Baffert-trained colts were among 19 Kentucky Derby futures candidates on the Sunday tab.
Barnes (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2025 San Vicente), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the 15th fastest of 41 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the San Vicente (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 4 for trainer Bob Baffert.
East Avenue (Medaglia d’Oro), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Breeders’ Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Fair Grounds. It was the 13th fastest of 52 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed ninth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 1 for trainer Brendan Walsh.
Chancer McPatrick (McKinzie), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2024 Champagne, 2024 Hopeful), worked three furlongs in 39.0 seconds at Payson Park. It was the sixth fastest of nine works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 1 for trainer Chad Brown.
Getaway Car (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Best Pal), worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the fourth fastest of 36 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Los Alamitos on Dec. 14 for trainer Bob Baffert.
First Resort (Uncle Mo), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Turfway Park. It was the sixth fastest of 61 works at the distance.
