Kentucky Derby trail: Barnes leads 3 prospects on tab
Barnes, winner of the Grade 2 San Vicente and most recently second to Journalism in the San Felipe (G2), worked Monday morning at Santa Anita. He went four furlongs in 48.0 seconds. The drill was his third since the San Felipe.
It was Barnes's final breeze before an expected start in the Santa Anita Derby (G1), where he is likely to line up alongside not only Journalism but also his champion stablemate Citizen Bull. Barnes is 20-1 at Caesars Nevada as of Monday morning.

His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in the San Felipe (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on March 1 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Caldera (Liam's Map) worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Oaklawn on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of 19 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed eighth in the Louisiana Derby (G2) going 1 3/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on March 22 for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Innovator (Authentic) worked four furlongs in 51.4 seconds at Oaklawn on Monday morning. It was the 33rd fastest of 35 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed eighth in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the synthetic at Turfway Park on March 22 for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
